Our garden is always in the full throws of growing delicious food for us.
As we're moving into winter, and I have been a little busy to get a lot of planting done. My goal was to get my garlic planted in April, but I actually only managed to get there in early May. I am hoping I miss the rust this year which caused havoc last year. I was hoping to get more planted but it hasn't really been case. I have managed to plant silverbeet and that's about it. I'll get some brassicas in soon too.
I have to be honest, I am a little laxidasical about my planting. My partner loves straight lines, where I plant in patches, with plants all over the place but generally companion planted.
I use Neem Oil only, with good manure to feed the garden well.
Our chickens (Aloola, Red, Popcorn, Marg, Flashie) have settled in under the fruit trees. We use their manure in the garden when planting as well. We've also got a worm bin which we also use the worm castings. The plum trees grows great guns each year, and all the other plantings we've made over the last year, including a grape vine, orange tree, and a mandarin tree are settling nicely into their spaces.
I plan on getting ready for spring, and are planning to grow up a storm. The last year was a little difficult, with the season being short, and just so different to the last one.
